How voice samples, practice recordings, uploads, and saved audio are handled.
Before you convert
Your recording and script stay in your browser while you prepare them. The microphone is used only when you record. When you sign in from the tool, a temporary browser copy preserves your draft through sign-in; that handoff expires after 30 minutes.
When you convert
Our servers send the inputs needed to our speech providers. The current conversion workflow uses OpenAI for transcription, ElevenLabs for the chosen accent, and FAL for the voice conversion. Script mode uses your written words instead of transcribing your recording. Clerk handles account sign-in.
These services process data under their own policies. Our FAL requests disable stored input/output payloads and request a one-hour lifetime for generated files. Provider retention is separate from the copies stored by Younunciate.
Practice and your voice
Your chosen voice sample is sent to our speech providers to prepare American examples in your voice. Samples and prepared examples are kept for up to 24 hours.
Attempts you record while practicing are saved on this device and sent to ElevenLabs to locate words for replay. This timing is not a pronunciation score. Signing out clears account-specific practice recordings on this device.
Uploaded practice clips
Uploaded audio is sent to ElevenLabs for transcription and word timing. The original clip and transcript are saved in this browser for up to 24 hours. Only upload your own voice or recordings you have permission to use.
Keeping and deleting clips
Clips are available in your account for up to 24 hours. Download anything you want to keep. Expired clips become unavailable; physical cleanup of expired files runs separately.
Deleting a clip removes its original and generated audio from our storage and removes access to its text in the app. If you reused a recording in another clip, that clip has its own copy. Downloads on your device are yours to manage.
Deleting a clip here does not automatically delete provider-held data. We do not promise immediate deletion from every provider or their backups.
